SUBJECT: REGISTRATION FOR 2026 MIDDLESEX SENIOR 70s SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE

Fellow Ballplayers:

Our league will be conducting a total draft of players to fill our teams for the 2026 season. Our league consists of 4 teams that will play doubleheaders at Veterans Park in Old Bridge on Wednesdays at 9:30 am, starting on Wednesday May 6 and continuing through the end of September.

We have paid umpires and employ a pitching screen. All players at a game must bat and a 2-base rule limits batters to advancing only 2 bases on a hit.

We plan to have each team draft 16 players on their roster, so a total of 64 players would be drafted. To be eligible players must be age 69 or older by the end of 2026.

Our draft will take place in mid-March.

Anyone wishing to be drafted must send a check for a registration fee of $80 to Richard Raymond, League Treasurer.

Payment MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER than FEBRUARY 25, 2026.

Checks received after this date will render a player ineligible for the draft, so it is important to send in the registration fee well in advance of the cutoff date.

Players new to this league should also provide the following information to Bob Fertal prior to sending their check (text to 732-672-1583 or email to rjfertal@hotmail.com): Name, Address, Date of Birth, Cell phone # and email address.

In the event that more than 64 are duly registered, those players not picked for a team will be placed on a waiting list and called on to replace players of the same ability who drop out during the season because of injury or for personal reasons. Checks with the full amount of the registration fee will be returned to those on the waiting list, and if they are subsequently called as a replacement, they will pay a fee pro-rated fee based on the number of games remaining in the season. The registration fee for those that are drafted on a team is non-refundable, however.

After the draft, your manager will contact you about your shirt size and preferred number. Shirts are mandatory for those players drafted on a new team. For those players returning to the same team purchase of a shirt is optional. The cost of the team shirt is $25. Playershave the option of also purchasing a team cap for $10.
